the bird is freed
Elon did it.
He bought Twitter for 44 Billion Dollars.
My guess was that he wasn't going to buy Twitter and just used it as an excuse to dump his Tesla stock as insinuated in this post 3 months ago.
I was almost right as he started walking away from the deal after talking about the bot and spam issues Twitter had. But he was then forced to buy Twitter after Twitter filed a lawsuit against him for not following through. He then offered to end the legal battle and bought Twitter.
Agrawal (CEO), Segal (CFO), and Gadde (Policy exec) being fired are all over the news right now and funnily enough people are mocking them for getting fired when they just got paid around $50m each after Elon's takeover. It hasn't even been a year since Agrawal become CEO of Twitter and he already captured an insane amount of value for TWTR shareholders.
The fact that TWTR even sold at this high of a price after essentially trading sideways for a decade is an impressive feat and accomplishment for Agrawal. Not to mention the current state of the economy and financial markets in 2022.
In crypto news, DOGE has increased by 154%
So far it has continued to increase even after the confirmation of the sale so doesn't seem to be a SNL moment yet.
Will be interesting to see what he does with regards to Doge and whether he is actually serious about integrating it into Twitter or if it's just another one of Elon's promises that will take a long time to come to fruition like the deadline for the cybertruck, Full Self Driving, tesla roadster and more.
